FAQ’s

Where are you located?

We are located at 29 Tower Road in Newton Upper Falls, MA.  Here are directions.

Who are our clients?

Trefler’s diverse clientele is comprised of Residential and Commercial Restoration Projects completed for Homeowners, Restaurants, Hotels, Libraries, Town Halls, Law Firms, Financial Institutions, Antique stores and Condominiums.

What are your hours of operation?

Trefler’s is open Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and open on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Closed on Sundays.

What Towns does Trefler’s Service?

Greater Boston, North Shore/Cape Ann, South Shore, Cape Cod, all of New England. Trefler’s can also provide estimates online for customers outside of our service area, for more information please email trefler@trefler.com.

Do you just do antiques?

No. Trefler’s can work with almost any item, modern or antique, as long as it is a material that we can manipulate.   For a full list of what we can repair, please go to our expertise section. Even if you don’t see your particular kind of piece listed, just call.

Do I need an appointment?

No appointment needed!  Feel free to come in anytime Monday -Friday from 9am-6pm or 10-2 on Saturdays.  You could also email us a photo and we could begin there.

Can I mail you my item(s)?

Yes. Trefler’s receives items via USPS, UPS, and Fedex every day. View our Mail-In Service.

How much will my repair be?

Every restoration project is quoted based on the time it takes your conservator to complete your project, not based on the value of the piece. We advise you to e-mail us a picture of your item(s), so we can give you a ballpark estimate prior to visiting the studio. We will get back to you within 48 hours.

Do you do appraisals?

Trefler’s believes it is a conflict of interest for us to place a value on an item and then offer to restore it for you. Therefore, we are unable to give you any value information on your items. If you are interested in having some of your possessions appraised, check out our Resources page.

Do you do upholstery?

Yes. Trefler’s is proud to partner with Partners in Design, an excellent ‘to-the-trade’ upholsterer, who can also obtain exclusive designer fabrics of the highest quality. To get a quote for upholstery, e-mail us a photo of your piece or visit the studio. We will get you a quote within 48 hours.

How long will my restoration take?

Our lead-time changes with the influx of projects we have at any given time, but on average is about 6-8 weeks. Some more extensive and involved repairs may take longer, depending on the complexity of the work involved.

Do you send your repairs out?

All of our restoration projects are completed in our Newton studio by our talented Artists/Conservators.

I had a fire/flood/other disaster in my home. What do I do?

If you have been through a catastrophe and are in need of help, check out our Insurance Claim section. David Manzi, President of Trefler’s, can be contacted at 617 965 3388 X224 or via email at dmanzi@trefler.com.  Trefler’s specializes in water, fire and smoke damage to most household objects. Contact David Manzi  directly to schedule an inspection and have our insurance specialist walk you through the process.

I have items I want to sell, where do I start?

Trefler’s does not buy or sell any goods or items. We recommend contacting a local antique dealer or consignment shop if you have items that you are looking to sell.
